Overview.

Welcome to the Click Start Peckham Digital Accelerator Zone (DAZ), a pioneering collaboration among the UAL Creative Computing Institute, UKBlackTech, and the London Borough of Southwark. This course is part of the new nationwide Click Start training programme developed by the Institute of Coding (IoC) and funded by Nominet.

The partnership will deliver comprehensive digital skills training to 200 18-30
year-olds from black and ethnic minority backgrounds in the London borough of Southwark and South London, helping to guide and place learners in work and meet the needs of the digital transformation of the Southwark and wider south London area. The programme will be aimed specifically at those who already have technical knowledge or enthusiasm for technology, but are currently seeking employment.

Our compelling mission: To empower and educate the next generation of tech talent within the local borough of Southwark and across London. Our ultimate objective is to enable tech talent to leverage the skills acquired through our course to make a tangible impact on the local economy and community.

Spanning 15 weeks, our comprehensive hybrid course encompasses a broad spectrum of critical skills, such as Web Development, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence. By equipping our participants with a versatile toolkit, we aim to facilitate the creation of solutions for local challenges, foster opportunities for innovation, and ensure that local businesses have access to a pool of skilled professionals. This initiative is designed to be a transformative force, poised to make a lasting impact in the years to come.

Employment (internships, apprenticeships, entry level roles) 

We're also offering Industry Live Briefs as part of Click Start Peckham DAZ. If you attend the programme and do well, you could benefit from the opportunity to deliver on an industry live brief. In addition, there is the potential for you to be paid to deliver on these and also be assessed on them as part of your training.

Further Education – Peckham DAZ Masters Level Qualification Route

In addition to offering free training on the Click Start Peckham DAZ programme, we are offering a potential route to enrolment on our MSc Modular Programme.

If you take part and achieve a B Grade or above for any of the three sections, you will be eligible to gain learning credits for UAL's CCI's Computing and Creative Industry Modular Programme https://www.arts.ac.uk/subjects/creative-computing/postgraduate/mamsc-computing-and-creative-industry-modular if you decide to apply.

Volunteering

When is the deadline?
We excited to extend our deadline and break the modules into different pathway which you could apply.

Pathway 1: Web Development: Online Fast Track:
4-day fast track of 1 hour lecture with small group tutorial with tutors

Pathway 2: Data Science and NLP:
You can apply only for Data Science.
However, Data Science is mandatory for those who wish to attend NLP, as NLP builds on Data Science.

What will I learn?
You will have three modules on web development, data science, and artificial intelligence/natural language processing.

The Institute of Coding (IoC), led by the University of Bath, is a collaborative national consortium of industry, educators and outreach providers that are working together to respond to the UK’s digital skills gap through the delivery of employer-led digital skills education. Through this collaborative approach, IoC partners have created more than 150 new courses that have engaged over 1 million diverse learners to date.

Nominet is a public benefit company, driven by a commitment to use technology to improve connectivity, security and inclusivity online. For 25 years, Nominet has, developing an expertise in the Domain Name System (DNS) that now underpins sophisticated threat monitoring, detection, prevention, and analytics that is used by governments to mitigate cyber threats. Our social impact programme provides funding, support, and opportunities to help tackle some of the most important digital issues facing young people in the UK today.

This course is part of the new nationwide Click Start training programme developed by the Institute of Coding (IoC) – a national consortium of industry, educators and outreach providers and funded by Nominet. The new programme rolls out through 2024 and helps to tackle the UK’s digital skills gap by offering skills and training to more than 25,000 learners across the country who may not have previously had opportunities.
