This is a free training programme with a difference. Get in-demand digital skills alongside employability support from industry professionals to help you identify and achieve your career goals.
Welcome to the Click Start Peckham Digital Accelerator Zone, a pioneering collaboration between the UAL Creative Computing Institute, UKBlackTech, and Southwark Council. This course is part of the new nationwide Click Start training programme developed by the Institute of Coding (IoC) and funded by Nominet.
Our mission is to empower and educate the next generation of tech talent in south London, and to equip you with the digital skills needed to make a tangible impact on your community and the local economy.
Customise your learning journey with courses in web development and data science to develop in-demand skills that align with your career goals.
In Accessible Web Development, you’ll discover how HTML and CSS are used to build a simple website, create interactive elements using JavaScript, and learn about accessible and inclusive web design.
If data is more your thing, in Introduction to Data Science you'll learn how to use Python and discover automated data collection. You’ll gain valuable skills in simple data analysis and visualisation, and discuss ethical issues like the fairness of AI systems.
You’ll be taught by academic staff from the UAL Creative Computing Institute, working at the intersection of creativity and computational technologies to drive innovations and positive social impact.

Introduction to Data Science
(4 weeks) Evening: Fit digital learning around your life.

Each teaching session includes a lecture and a group tutorial, and you’ll need to complete some independent study (2 - 6 hours) in between classes.
At the end of your course, you’ll produce a final project showcasing your technical skills for your portfolio, with access to real-world local business challenges and datasets.

Throughout the course, you’ll have the dedicated support of a tutor from the UAL Creative Computing Institute, who will guide you every step of the way.
The teaching programme will be accompanied by a series of exclusive career preparation workshops, networking events, and inspiring talks organised by UKBlackTech. Further Education – Masters Level Qualification Route:
Continue your digital learning journey with the UAL Creative Computing Institute. If you achieve a B grade or above for any of the courses, you’ll be eligible to gain learning credits as part of your application for UAL's MA/MSc Computing and Creative Industry (Modular) should you decide to apply (all standard university entry requirements are still applicable).

Applications are open for courses running from April to September 2025, and close 2 weeks before the start of each course.
We will review your application and aim to let you know within 5 working days whether you have been successful.

Q – What are the entry requirements?
A - Before applying, please check if all of the following criteria apply to you:
You are aged 18 – 30.
You live or work in south London.
You are from a Black or ethnic minority background.
You have the right to work in the UK.
You are interested in developing your technical skills and looking to take the next step in your career.
Our courses are beginner-friendly, so you don’t need any prior knowledge or experience of coding.
Q – What equipment will I need?
A – You will need a laptop with a charger and an internet browser. For Accessible Web Development, you will also need a microphone and speaker to fully participate in online classes. If you do not have access to a laptop, please indicate this on your application form.
Q – What happens if I miss a session?
A - We expect you to attend every class and career preparation workshop. If you can’t attend a session for any reason, please email info@peckhamdaz.com in advance to let us know. We will do our best to help you catch up.
Q – Will I get a certificate at the end of the course?
A – If you attend at least 80% of the teaching sessions and career preparation workshops, you will receive a certificate of participation at the end of the course.

The Institute of Coding (IoC), led by the University of Bath, is a collaborative national consortium of industry, educators and outreach providers that are working together to respond to the UK’s digital skills gap through the delivery of employer-led digital skills education. Through this collaborative approach, IoC partners have created more than 150 new courses that have engaged over 1 million diverse learners to date.
Nominet is a public benefit company, driven by a commitment to use technology to improve connectivity, security and inclusivity online. For 25 years, Nominet has, developing an expertise in the Domain Name System (DNS) that now underpins sophisticated threat monitoring, detection, prevention, and analytics that is used by governments to mitigate cyber threats. Our social impact programme provides funding, support, and opportunities to help tackle some of the most important digital issues facing young people in the UK today.
